Volvo Penta D9

| The new D9 in-line 6 diesel is developed from the latest design in modern diesel technology. The engine has a robust block with ladder frame, high pressure unit injector system, 4 valves per cylinder, "twin entry" turbo and aftercooler. Together with a large swept volume and the electronic engine management system, this results in a very smooth running engine with world-class diesel performance, combined with low fuel consumption and emissions. |
Radarsystemet - Simrad Radar ARPA RA42C

|
Onboard Tuna Clipper, Arne can select to view a wide screen presentation of a dual range mode, which will enable him to see his immediate area while simultaneously keeping a watchful eye on what is approaching Tuna Clipper in the distance. This is a major contribution towards the safety of vessels at sea, especially for vessels that do not have two radars fitted. Tuna Clippers radar system includes an Automatic Tracking Aid (ATA) which tracks up to 10 targets. Once locked-on, the radar will automatically provide a menu of data which includes speed, bearing, course and closest point of approach on all targets selected. A built-in alarm system warns Arne of possible collision or lost target, making watch-keeping easier and safer. The Simrad RA42 radar onboard Tuna Clipper operates with a 4 foot open scanner with 4kW output, which extends the range to 48NM, the sharper beam width provided by an open scanner, gives detailed extended range performance on the 10.4" TFT color display screen found in Tuna Clippers well equipped wheelhouse . Viewing two ranges on one split screen allows, for example, both 0.5NM and 6NM to be selected, which provides Arne with a view of his immediate proximity in detail, together with approaching hazards in the distance. Both ranges are continuously variable which means that he can adjust his radar to precisely the ranges he needs without being restricted by pre-set range buttons. The radar has a semi 3D facility. This enables easy and instant discrimination between weak and strong echo strengths for recognition of shoreline, targets and obstacles. This facility is particularly valuable in heavy rain or rough seas where targets can be seen clearly and naturally for recognition at a glance. The electronic compass and speed log is connected to the radar via the NMEA input, the True Motion function becomes available. The radar is fully specified with all the commercial radar modes such as VRM (Variable Range Marker), EBL (Electronic Bearing Line) and Track etc. During the hours of darkness Arne can adjust the radar to reverse the contrast of the display. This is an important safety feature that reduces light emission from the screen, while accentuating targets and providing continuity of night vision. |

Ekolodet - Simrad EQ40

| With Tuna Clippers echo sounder, the Simrad EQ40, it is possible to
find and evaluate fish stocks, identify size and type of fish at great
depths. To the left of the Radar display in Tuna Clippers wheelhouse is the echo sounders flat LCD 14" display screen. Here, data received from the highly sensitive Simrad transducers, is interpreted. A high degree of detail is displayed to show the typography of the seabed and fish behaviour, which can help to establish fish species and size. With the EQ40 it is even possible to identify what is below more clearly than ever before. The transducer is mounted on the hull, away from |
